Maya wore red underwear on the day of her big job interview—not because it was lucky, she explained, but because all her other laundry was “currently in negotiations.”

On the way out, her little brother spotted the waistband peeking above her jeans. “Bold choice,” he said.

“It’s called confidence,” Maya replied.

At the interview, everything went smoothly until the hiring manager asked, “What’s your greatest strength?”

Maya sat up straight. “I’m prepared for anything.”

Right then, her phone buzzed with a reminder: MOVE LAUNDRY TO DRYER.

She glanced at the manager, smiled, and said, “Including a very specific emergency.”

She got the job. The manager later admitted he was impressed by her confidence—and by the fact that she had apparently dressed for both success and laundry day.
